Who makes the decision?
Criminal proceedings are not a private claim that the complainant can simply cancel. A Crown prosecutor makes prosecution decisions, subject to the applicable law and court procedure. A request to withdraw a complaint does not itself withdraw a charge.
Why the evidence matters
A lawyer needs to examine the charge, disclosure and circumstances before discussing possible resolutions. Withdrawal, a stay, an acquittal and a guilty plea are different outcomes; none should be promised before the case is assessed.
Conditions still matter
Keep following the current release terms unless they have been lawfully changed or ended. Do not pressure anyone to change their account or contact a protected person contrary to an order. Bring the paperwork to a consultation so the current status can be checked.
